UK drone rules: what you need to know

Under UK regulations, anyone flying a drone weighing 100g or more outdoors needs a Flyer ID, which you can obtain for free by passing the CAA online theory test. Additionally, any drone weighing 100g or more that is fitted with a camera requires an Operator ID. New drone models sold in the UK carry a UK class mark (UK0 to UK6) indicating where and how they can be flown. Popular models, including the DJI Neo 2, Flip, and Mini 5 Pro, require both IDs, so register before your first flight, especially if you're buying a drone as a gift.
